The fall of the Berlin Wall twenty years ago was an incomparable experience for all generations and a profound turning point in the personal lives of many.
As part of “Der Berg der Erinnerung”—a series of conversations, open to all, organized by the Museum Lichtenberg and inaugurated in May 2009 with a discussion with employees of industries once located in Lichtenberg—November 1, 2009, was the occasion for another retrospective look at history.
In this event, optimism and change before and after 1989 in the Lichtenberg and Hohenschönhausen districts of Berlin were discussed. How did individuals experience the day-to-day, their jobs, and what characterized the years that followed?
