Hauptschule students explore career paths and training opportunities in the organic products industry.

Locations include: the organic market at Lichtenberg’s “green week” (Lichtenberg, Berlin), the Bioinsel health food store in Schöneberg (Berlin), the eco-village Brodowin in the Uckermark (one of the largest Demeter farms in Germany), and the organic supermarket and cooking studio Biolüske in Berlin Lichterfelde-West.

The project aims to improve training opportunities for Hauptschule students by providing students with information about the organic products industry—an industry that is currently undergoing an economic boom, as indicated, for example, by the many new organic supermarkets opening throughout Berlin.

Hauptschule students receive information about jobs, training opportunities, and internships in the organic industry and how they can apply for these. Career opportunities are presented with which these students were previously unfamiliar.

The video documentation also shows that there are employers for whom completion of a Hauptschule diploma or poor grades are not crucial factors when applying for a traineeship. Instead, self-presentation, commitment, and willingness are frequently more important.

The project informs Hauptschule students about different opportunities and provides them with encouragement in their future careers.

(The video is used in school lesson plans.)
